Can we talk? . . .
by exwitless inhey, this is under jokes and humor, so don't get too offended.
i just wanted to vent about how people say things incorrectly, such as pronouncing things wrong or saying phrases wrong.
i'll start, and if you have any to add, please feel free.

Socially Stunted?...you betcha.
by Lumptard inmy apologies if this has been done to death, but i was just curious how many of you feel that you have been socially crippled as a result of your association with the jws?
granted, this probably affects people who were raised as jws more than those who chose for themselves, but i just wanted to see if anyone else has had the same experience...also, how did you work through it if you were able to?

In the past I have found myself trying not to make friends, not wanting to get too friendly with anyone for fear that they may invite me to a bar or to a holiday party or some other “worldly” normal activity and then I would have to awkwardly decline. As for witness friends I never had very many. I think they were always slightly wary of me because my dad was not an elder (or even baptized). I think they weren't sure if I would be considered “wholesome association”. Now that I am halfway out I am trying to get over all of that but I just don't know where to find friends. I have considered going to some church, but what if someone sees me! Being here helps. It really is a shame how much this religion hurts its members in so many ways.

what will happen after armageddon!
by jinjam ini was talking to my sis, and we came up with this!
if we will be living for hundreds or thousands of years in "paradise", no death, no sickness, no war, no pestilence, no hunger," the former things will have passed away" don't remember the chapter or verse in the nwt, and what about the "raised from the dead" won't the world become overpopulated, remembered talking to my mom about it when we were little and she said it would never happen?

Everyday there will be picnics with people from all over the world wearing tradional ethinc clothing that they have saved from the old system. Everyone will bring a wheelbarrow full of raw vegetables and fruits and invite their favorite exotic animals and have free elephant rides for the kiddies. I can't wait to pet a lion!

SCAN OF WT ARTICLE ON WIVES.....
by Mary insome of you asked for a scan of the february 15, 2007 wt study on wives being in subjection.
i forgot to mention, the one paragraph stresses that not only are you a second class citizen in the marriage, but women are also to "obey" the numbnuts in the congregation, even if you've got a higher iq:.

This article really made me never ever want to go back to the KH. On the other hand if I thought that barfing was fun, it would be great to hear the comments when this is studied there. How many JW women studying this do you think will be completely insulted; how many will swallow it whole and not bat an eye? Here are a few of my favorite quotes:
Par. 5 - A single woman , therefore, needs to ask herself, 'Am I willing to enter into an arrangement in which I will come under the law of this man?'
No, every man does not have his own set of laws that anyone can be expected to obey.
Par. 6 - Yet, making a wise choice may be the hardest thing a woman ever does, since her desire for the closeness and love possible in marriage can be very strong.
Oh, gosh, I am just a foolish little woman, if only I had a man to make all the decisions for me...
Par. 7 - A woman should consider seriously what could be involved in being under the law of a man who proposes to her.
Again, women are under no laws that men are not under.

This is so strange. Actually, this is the second time I heard about this book. One time a Visitnig Speaker quoted from this guy in a Public Talk. I was just like WTF? Who would write such a strange book and how did this old weirdo find out about it? I figured it must have been in the outline but that seems pretty goofy too.

Stupid things you thought as a JW

i had some weird ideas that took a long time to dispell.
one that i got fairly quickly, and embarassingly was when at school, after easter vacation (still was that, then!
